[edit]

Well done on this article. I had it on my one-day-to-do-list, but I'm sure I wouldn't have created so much so quickly as what's happened here. nice work. --Merbabu (talk) 10:53, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures...

[edit]

I think this article has too many pictures. If not, at least the problem at least appears to be a rather messy page through pic placement (see version), for example, pics from previous historical eras (sections in this article) are being pushed over into the next article and this is compounded. Perhaps it is a browser issue. I'm running Safari and Firefox on a Mac and it's a bit of a mess. And it was almost impossible to find the correct section [edit] button. I've started to put the pics into galleries simply due to their sheer number. It's not an ideal solution-galleries have their own problems including white space-but the alternative is to remove pics. Perhaps selective pic removal is the way to go? Say remove 50%? --Merbabu (talk) 12:15, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Galleries are the way to go here. If there are specific images that are inappropriate they should, of course, be removed. A few galleries of like-themed images in sections will go a long way toward making the page layout more agreeable. The core issue with such page layouts is that things land in different spots at different screen resolutions; small laptops and large display machines will get quite different results. For images that are best arranged in a stacked sidebar, consider using {{FixBunching}} to better organize them. Cheers, Jack Merridew 12:41, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
